A lot of great technology came onto the market years ago and their upgraded versions haven't proven to be much better than earlier versions. We'd never want our students to deceive their parents so they could get new cell phones, iPods etc. We wanted to point out some benefits for both parents and students about purchasing new technology and hopefully we accomplished that. And while I know there has been some adoption of this stuff by higher-ups, it does remain largely a tool to be in touch with your cohorts, with whom 'networking' is largely irrelevant for a long period of time. They really can't help you anymore than you can help them.
